PURPOSE
For me, direct mark-making is honest, and gives me the ability to amplify the vitality of my subjects.
Compositionally, I isolate my subjects - the figure, the rooster, the hummingbird. In so doing, the focus becomes the energetic state, denoting the subject as present and yet agitated within the three-dimensional. I incorporate negative space to communicate isolation as the precursor to awakening. Moreover, as the state of existence before re-convergence or reunification with the whole.
